Equi Yoga™, just like in traditional mat yoga, has as its goal the “opening” of the body’s energy pathways, releasing of toxins and tensions, increased flexibility and balance, and some elements of strength. Deep, steady breathing is the foundation of the practice.
Traditional yoga poses have been adapted for the mounted rider, and can be practiced at a standstill, walk and trot. Improved balance, greater connection with the horse, and better feel are common results of Equi Yoga™ practice.
The more “open” the rider becomes, and the more established her breathing is, the more freely the horse will be able to move. The practice increases rider awareness of her own body, as well as the horse’s, and can help fine tune the rider’s communication with the horse. It’s a ride you will never forget!
